The Forum's Annual Update on
Fort Lauderdale Government

The first time City Manager Lee R. Feldman spoke to us, we could almost measure his administration in hours. Now you can measure it by a series of accomplishments. From innovative sustainability advances, to government cost reductions, to the progress Feldman and his team are making on those goals outlined in the Visioning Plan, his administration takes obvious pride in carefully and thoughtfully planning how our city will look, feel and flow today and in a quarter of a century from now.

Fast Forward Fort Lauderdale 2035 was unanimously approved by the City Commission one year ago- on April 16, 2013. Our City Manager has a short video for Forum members to view how aggressively his team has moved the Visioning ideas forward in the 12 months since the Plan was approved. It is exciting to watch the approach our community is taking to implement the long-term Vision Plan.

Mayor John P. “Jack” Seiler was the guiding force behind Fast Forward Fort Lauderdale. His vocal and visible support was a solid example of the commitment that our Mayor, and the City Commission has taken to lead in those areas that mean the most to the citizens. While guiding the City through day-to-day critical and timely issues, they have made it clear that they have in their sights the future of jobs and economic development and Fort Lauderdale’s competitive place in the future. Mayor Seiler will tell the Forum how our innovative, entrepreneurial City will meet these challenges and how Fort Lauderdale will thrive as we grow and change with the times and invest in the future.
